Studio
A small studio,
by design.
We would rather know every project deeply than scale to know none of them well.

2021
JOCO is an intentionally small residential architecture studio with offices in Seattle, Washington and Boise, Idaho — a boutique firm committed to the slow, considered work of designing custom homes, whole-house remodels, and additions for clients across Washington and Idaho.
We work between two studios. A loft in downtown Boise opens onto the foothills; a working presence in Seattle threads through the soft, layered green of the Pacific Northwest. The conversation between these two landscapes — the forest and the high desert — shapes everything we make.
Our practice was founded in 2021 on a small idea: that the homes worth designing are the ones designed slowly. We turn down more work than we take on. The clients who suit us are the ones who feel the same way — who want a long conversation, not a fast deliverable, and who understand that the best architecture takes the time it takes.

Jordan Cowhig
Founder & Principal Architect
Jordan founded JOCO in 2021 after a decade of designing custom residential work across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West. Her practice is rooted in the conviction that a home should belong to its site, its client, and the long life it will hold — and that getting there requires patience, listening, and an obsession with the joinery.
Originally from the Midwest, Jordan’s deep appreciation for the natural environment continues to inform her design sensibility. Known for her thoughtful approach to complex sites, Jordan is especially skilled in navigating environmentally critical areas and creatively working within the constraints of existing homes and tight urban conditions. Her work is defined not only by design excellence, but by strong, lasting relationships—with clients, consultants, and craftspeople alike.
She holds degrees in both Architecture and Construction Management from the University of Washington and is a registered architect in both Washington and Idaho. When not at the drafting table, she is most likely jogging the Boise Foothills or swinging clubs at on the golf course.

Let's start with a walk on your site.
We take on a small number of new projects each year and prefer to begin with a long, unhurried conversation. Tell us a little about your land and what you're imagining — we'll respond personally within a week.
